Well, I did not read the book, but Jessica did.  She agrees that while the basic story was the same, there were a LOT of differencesand omissions.  She liked the movie anyway, though.  But I, for one, am glad that the creepy rat (Scabbers) is OUTTA THERE!!

So they are definitely going to do the Goblet of Fire next?  The kid-actors will be, like, going on 30 by then---are they going to use the same three?  Who is going to direct it?  Cuaron again?  Will Columbus still hang on as a producer again?

You always know all the secret details for some reason.....

I look at HP:PoA this way: if you haven't read the book, you'd be amazed.
It's clearly the best movie of the three. Well, acted, well-directed, the
visuals were incredible. Cuaron's Hogwarts is much closer to my mental
picture of the place.

I, however, have read the book and while this isn't the worst adaptation
I've ever seen it comes close. I know what happens in the next 2 books and
there are things in the next two movies that they simply won't be able to
explain now because certain VERY key bits of info were ignored. For that
reason, I hated this movie. And not because it was a bad movie, but because
unless they write elements of THIS story's plot line into the next movie
(and they can't...they simply won't have the time), the rest of Harry's
cinematic story won't make any bloody sense. They may as well not even make
the next two.
